Asheville- a mountainside escape

We traveled to Asheville, North Carolina for the weekend. It was a much needed break during this pandemic. We were very cautious about avoiding crowded places so we picked Asheville which is famous for hiking and natural beauty so we could avoid indoors. It was a good experience and I recommend this to anyone looking for a weekend getaway in the south.

A Childhood Dream

Picture1-Universal Studios Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA

In my childhood, I dreamt of living in this castle. Millions across the world can relate to my dream. J.K. Rowling wrote one of my favorite books of all time and Warner Bros. made an epic out of it, taking us to a journey through the Diagon Alley into the Malfoy Manor, from Privet Drive to Godric’s Hollow. I was fascinated about going to Hogwarts one day, study in class of Professor McGonagall and have a principal like Albus Dumbledore.

While visiting Universal Studios, Los Angeles, all these memories flashed in front of my eyes and it felt like fulfilling a childhood dream.

An Ocean-Unshackled yet humble

My travel took me to El Matador Beach where I saw vast ocean caressing my feet and giving me a lesson of humbleness. I realized that when such a vast powerhouse can be so humble with you that why can’t we be the same with our fellows. We always believe in show of power to the world where as nature always hides its power and show its beautiful and serene side.

The waves hitting the rocks made a melodious music creating an atmosphere of utter calmness. It’s a place where I felt detached from the rat race in which I felt lost all my life.

A Treasure of Nature

Further on my journey to explore various wonder of nature, I visited this place near my hometown Pathankot. It is Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple.

These are 5500-year-old caves & a temple built by Pandavas. According to the Hindu Mythology, these caves are as old as the Mahabharata. It was built by pandavas during their exile, as according to a legend states in the mythology, these caves served as home to the pandavas as they rested and took shelter over here during their exile. It was during their ‘Agayatwas’ that they stayed in these caves for six months.

Pandvas stayed here for six months, in that time period they built four caves and a shiv temple. They crafted the Shivlingam present in the temple and worshiped the lord shiva here. The Havan Kund made by them, is still present there in temple.

This place is also known as mini (small) haridwar. Those people who can not do ash immersion of their kin at haridwar, they flow it in Ravi River at Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple.

They continue to inspire millions with their deeds even after they leave the world. Thank you to every such soul for inspiring and enlightening us everyday…

-Bavaria

In my journey to explore new worlds, I travelled German state of Bavaria the fall of 2017. It was a part of my class curriculum that I got chance to visit THI Ingolstadt. I must say it was a different world for me. I used to hear stories of beauty of Germany from my friends but never imagined the extent of it.

Most of my visits with the group were to local companies there with a purpose to learn from their wonderful methods to manufacture products that rule the world. I got chance to visit BMW Welt Munich, Audi Museum Ingolstadt, Continental Ingolstadt and many other world famous companies. By the way I clicked the above picture on the street outside Continental.

Nature mesmerized me at every step here. It was sunshine in the morning, rain in the afternoon and snow in the night. Well I must admit i was kind of unprepared for such weather.

On the last day of my visit I went to Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim in Munich and fell in love with it. I got lost here which is by far one of the best places i visited in my life (Not to mention, I am a Mechanical engineer and my passion is Aerospace). I kept on reading the display charts one after the other for 5 hours till I realized I have to go back as had a plan to meet someone in the evening.

Well I would say if this is what is called making first impression count, Bavaria you were spot on. I will return pretty soon ‘PROST’.

Nature- A Teacher

20151016_153832While standing on a footpath and looking into beautiful creations of nature, I felt a cool breeze whispering in my ear trying to communicate something, something really important, something so basic that everyone should know yet something least known to us. I was moved to witness the learning that mother nature gives us. We should learn discipline to be in our boundaries from flowing water, we should learn from flowers to get destroyed to give fragrance to others, from trees the art of protecting everyone from rains without asking their caste, to be strong and face every adversity from mountains.

We are here to play our roles on the stage called life. Its a small part of an eternal journey which is going on since inception of the universe and will be everlasting so why we are so curious to fight and that to for materialistic things. Are they really worth it ???
